Memorabilia and Halloween enthusiasts take note:
The Muny will hold its first-ever garage sale
starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22,
offering costumes, props, 2012 show banners,
stage lighting fixtures, equipment and more.
Why hold a garage sale? Well, just like the rest of us, The Muny has accumulated stuff it won’t need and wants to make room, saidLucie Springmeyer, the theater’s director of development and civic affairs. While the cash raised will go toward supporting the nonprofit theater, The Muny also would rather the items go to people who can use or will appreciate them rather than to recycling or a landfill, she said.
The sale also will include “swag” from the last five seasons of Muny shows, such as mugs, cups and program posters. Ooh, and snow globes.
The Muny garage sale will open at 10 a.m., Sept. 22, backstage at the theater, 1 Theatre Drive in Forest Park. The sale entrance is halfway up the east pergola. It might go until 3 p.m., but since this is the first time the event is being held, it will depend on how fast items sell, Springmeyer said. Cash and credit cards will be accepted, she said.
