St Louis Zoo – Early Childhood Programs starts in February – Forest Park

Spring Early Childhood Programs

(Children must be accompanied by an adult. Fees are listed PER CHILD).

These programs are designed for you and your child to explore the animal world together. Programs are hands-on and may include crafts, live animals, songs, stories, role-playing and more.

NOTE: These programs are designed for caregivers to interact with, and help facilitate the learning of the registered program participant. In order to best serve all of our Early Childood participants, unregistered children may not participate in the program.

For Children Ages 6 – 12 Months

Lumpy, Bumpy, Fuzzy, Furry
What has bumps, what has lumps, what is fuzzy and furry? Join us for a tactile exploration of animal coverings.

Limited to 12 children per session

Early Explorers
Leap into the world of animal movements as we discover how animals fly, slither and swim and learn about the world around them, not unlike our toddling tots.

For Children Ages 18 – 36 Months

STROLLER SAFARI SERIES
You and your child will experience a live animal encounter and then take a guided stroll throughout the Zoo. Come on a learning adventure as we visit our wonderful animal exhibits and meet a few interesting characters along the way. Don’t forget your stroller!

NOTE: These programs are designed for caregivers to interact with, and help facilitate the learning of the registered program participant. In order to best serve all of our Early Childhood participants, unregistered children may not participate in the program.

Limited to 12 children per session

Critter Count 1 – 10
1 and 2, cows go moo. 3 and 4, hyena laugh some more. 5 and 6, monkeys play with sticks. 7 and 8, bats stay out late. 9 and 10, start over again. Come to the Zoo and help us count some of our critters!

Zooper Shapes
Animals come in all different shapes, from the box shaped rhino to the very round hippo. Take a safari through the Zoo looking for animal shapes, from circles, to squares and even triangles.

Animal Family Fun
Join in on the fun as we experience firsthand how super seahorse dads and unusual alligator moms help their young.

Kick off spring discovering how animals celebrate the season through songs, stories and animal actions!

Bug-A-Palooza
Explore the teeny tiny world of butterflies, beetles and more. Take home native plant seeds to attract them to your own yard too.

Here Are the Wild Things!
We’ll investigate how the wacky wild things are like real life animals, and make our own wild things to take home, while exploring amazing animal adaptations.

Marsupial Madness

Hop, climb and summersault into the world of our pouched pals.

EGGcellent Adventures
See who’s hatching and how in the animal world. We’ll explore amazing eggs, from the slimy salamanders to the marvelous monotremes, like the platypus. We’ll even make a few egg creations of our own to take home.

Mountain Mania
We’ll travel the mountains of the world meeting animals that live in their snowy peaks. Leaping snow leopards, chattering chinchillas and more await you!

Remarkable Rainforest

Come explore what makes the rainforests of the world so remarkable! We’ll learn all about the diverse wildlife that calls the rainforest home and meet a few animals that live there!

I Know What We’re Going to ZOO Today!
Have you ever wanted to be like those crazy kids on TV, designing amazing creations in their backyard? Then join us as we build our own awesome over the top Zoo, and learn a few things about semi-aquatic egg laying mammals, during our super secret agent adventure!

Earth Day Party for the Planet

Pond Pals
