Mind Fest: Raising Backyard Chickens

The locally grown, sustainably raised and organic food movement has caused a resurgence of raising backyard chickens. This class will introduce you to the basics of successfully raising hens for fresh eggs. You’ll learn how to research zoning regulations, choose chicken breeds, weigh the pros and cons of hatching fertile eggs vs buying hatchery chicks, learn how to care for chicks, and how to house, feed and water your birds and cope with predators.
