Candy Cane Lane

No, this light display isn’t put on by a company or park. Candy Cane Lane is a residential street in St. Louis Hills that is decked out to the nines for the holiday season, and it’s all the work of the neighbors who live there. There is no fee to drive through, but donations are accepted for charity. Other neighboring streets have earned a respectable reputation for their lights as well, including Angel Alley, Reindeer Road and Snowflake Lane.

Since 1970, the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows has drawn onlookers from around the area to gape at the Way of Lights, a drive-through display that follows the Bible story of the birth of Jesus. Other attractions on the grounds include a LEGO nativity scene, a s’mores fire pit and more. It’s free to drive through, but donations are accepted.

Winter Wonderland at Tilles Park is exactly what it sounds like — a wonderland of sparkling lights and holiday cheer. Drive through or reserve a carriage ride to take it all in. Santa’s Magical Kingdom, located near Six Flags St. Louis, identifies itself as “the Midwest’s most spectacular holiday light display.” You have to admit it’s pretty impressive, with special effects, animated scenes and millions of lights.
